No. 1 Razorbacks host 10 teams in Arkansas Qualifier
FAYTETTEVILLE, Ark. – Hosting 10 teams in the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday gives the No. 1 Razorbacks an opportunity to see a field of schools that offer a variety in competition.

Competing with Arkansas this week are Arizona, Arizona State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, UCLA, Utah, Washington State, and Vanderbilt. Field events begin at noon with running events following at 2 p.m., when the live stream on SEC Network + starts.
“The schedule has worked out really well in preparation for the SEC Championships,” said women’s head coach Lance Harter. “We’ve got our initial qualifying covered, as far as who is going to be at the SEC meet. But we would like to circle back in some of the events that we thought maybe would be a primary and then someone runs a great secondary event.
“A great example is Kennedy Thomson and Quinn Owen, who each ran a huge PR in the 800. I think that’s going to be reflective this week when they run the mile they can run really fast if the race sets up right. With others we will get some reconfirmations across the board that the program works, we are fit, and we are gaining a lot of confidence.”
Also racing in the second section of the mile with Thomson and Owen are Razorbacks Gracie Hyde, Abby Gray, and Krissy Gear.
Seven Arkansas sprinters race in the final two sections of the 200m. Featured in the final section are the Razorback foursome of Jayla Hollis, Rosey Effiong, Tiana Wilson, and Kethlin Campbell, who will also race at 400m.
The Razorback trio of Daszay Freeman, Yoveinny Mota, and Hollis contest the 60m hurdles. A field of 22 vaulters includes seven Razorbacks, led by Nastassja Campbell, Bailee McCorkle, Mackenzie Hayward and Elien Vekemans.
Fast times inside the Tyson Center were prevalent last weekend in various events with the combination of elite athletes and a new Mondo surface.
“It was deemed by the people who build tracks a few years back as the fastest in the world and its even faster yet,” noted Harter.
Currently, with Arkansas hosting collegiate and professional meets, 14 world-leading marks for the 2021 indoor season have been set inside the Randal Tyson Track Center. For the women, those events include 200, 300, mile, 5000, 60 hurdles, 4×400 relay, and pole vault.
