No. 2 Women's Track & Field to compete at Red Raider Invitational
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas women’s track and field squad will compete at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas, on Friday, Jan. 24, with running events kicking off at 11:00 a.m. CT (3000-meters) and the weight throw starting at 10 a.m. The meet will feature squads from Air Force, Arizona, Houston, New Mexico Jr College, Oklahoma State, South Plains, TCU, Texas State, Incarnate Word, North Texas, UT-Arlington, Texas Tech, Washington State and Western Texas.
The Razorbacks set eight top-25 times among the NCAA this season at their spring opener last week. Senior Carina Viljoen and junior Katie Izzo are ranked second (4:37.78) and third (4:39.64) in the country this season after their times in the mile at the Arkansas Invitational. In the pole vault, Lauren Martinez is tied for seventh nationally with a height of 4.25m (13-11.25) while Bailee McCorkle went for a 4.15m (13-7.25) which is tied for 12th.
Arkansas was tabbed at the No. 2 spot in the USTFCCCA preseason rankings on Jan. 8.
