No. 4 Arkansas registers four wins at LSU Invitational

BATON ROUGE – Razorback Rachel Glenn won the high jump at the LSU Invitational on Saturday with a clearance of 6-2.25 (1.89) to highlight a solid day for Arkansas that included four victories.

Glenn defeated Georgia’s Elena Kulichenko in the competition while Razorback teammate Sydney Billington finished fourth with a 5-8.75 (1.75) clearance. Kulichenko, the 2024 NCAA Outdoor champion, cleared 6-0 (1.83) as runner-up

Glenn cleared five bars on first attempts from 5-8.75 (1.75) to 6-2.25 (1.89). She then passed 6-3.5 (1.92) and had three misses at 6-4.75 (1.95), which was the stadium record set in 2023 by Texas A&M’s Lamara Distin.

After missing once at 6-1.25 (1.86), Kulichenko passed to 6-2.25 and had two misses at that height.

Arkansas finished the meet with a pair of teams in the 4 x 400m relay placing first and second with times of 3:26.64 and 3:27.17. LSU (3:31.22) and Auburn (3:31.23) followed in third and fourth place.

The Razorback B crew of Rosey Effiong, Aaliyah Pyatt [1:43.89], Sanu Jallow-Lockhart (51.81), and Sanaria Butler (50.95) delivered the victory. The Razorback A squad consisted of Kaylyn Brown, Arianna Sharpe [1:44.20], Kayla Davis (51.82), and Joanne Reid (51.17).

In the 400m, Brown bettered with field in 50.35, which is equal to the third fastest collegiate time this season, while Effiong finished as runner-up in 50.66. Reid was sixth with a 51.71 in the first section while Pyatt won the second section in 52.30 to place seventh overall.

Other Razorbacks in the event included Butler (52.32), Davis (52.72), Amirah Sharpe (52.84), Arianna Sharpe (53.21), and Ashanti Denton (53.56).

Olivia Pielemeier won the 1,500m with a career best time of 4:19.46. Teammates in the race included Sydney Thorvaldson (4:21.18), Mackenzie Rogers (4:28.23), and Bradley Weimer (4:34.19).

Simone Ballard finished runner-up in the second section of the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.24 (1.5 wind). Professional Michelle Athlerly won the section in 12.86 while Razorback Shania Myers placed third in 13.45.

Rachel Homoly tied for third in the pole vault as she cleared 13-11.75 (4.26). Third place was the result for Funminiyi Olajide with a 20-2.25w (6.15) effort in the long jump.

LSU’s Michaela Rose won the 800m in a collegiate leading 1:58.12 after passing 400m in 56.80. Jallow-Lockhart, who crossed 400m in 57.39, placed fourth in 2:04.44 while Analisse Batista finished seventh in 2:05.48.

Other Razorbacks in the event included Lanie Meeks (2:08.36), who was runner-up in the second section, along with Madeleine Gear (2:08.60) and Sorcha Shiu (2:11.05).

Saira Prince placed fifth in the first section of the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.78 and finished sixth overall. Professional Anna Cockrell won the race in 53.84.
