
Noe, Thorvaldson combine for 1-3 finish in SEC 10,000m final
LEXINGTON – The SEC Outdoor 10,000m final produced 16 points for the Razorbacks with a gold and bronze finish by Paityn Noe and Sydney Thorvaldson.
Noe, a runner-up in the 10k last season as a freshman, won the race in 32:49.70. It’s the second fastest winning time following a 32:13.13 set by Alabama’s Mercy Chelangat in 2021. Florida’s Hilda Olemomoi finished second to Noe in 33:15.52.
Thorvaldson, who won the SEC 10k title in 2023, posted a time of 33:30.93 for bronze. Bradley Weimer finished 15th in 36:50.24.
In team scores No. 1 Georgia leads with 30 points off a victory in the hammer along with a 1-3-5 finish in the javelin. Arkansas is currently in second place with 16 points from the 10,000m final.
In qualifying races, the Razorbacks advanced three into final positions for the 800m and 400m hurdles.
Sanu Jallow-Lockhart won her 800m section in 2:05.48, which was seventh best overall. Analisse Batista (2:08.52) and Anna Podojil (2:09.04) were 13th and 14th overall.
In the 400m hurdles, Rachel Glenn won her section in 54.82. That was second best overall to a 54.75 for Akala Garrett of Texas. Razorback Saira Prince was fourth best overall with a 55.99 to finish behind Georgia’s Michelle Smith (55.17) and join Glenn in the final.
Rosey Effiong posted a time of 22.98 as runner-up in her section of the 200m and placed 14th overall.
