
Paityn Noe breaks UA record to place 4th in NCAA 10k
EUGENE – Razorback sophomore Paityn Noe broke the Arkansas school record by 20 seconds in producing a fourth-place finish time of 31 minutes, 36.91 seconds in the 10,000m during Thursday’s action at Hayward Field.
Noe bettered the UA record of 31:56.84 set by Dominique Scott in 2016 and improved her previous best of 31:59.22 set earlier this season. Teammate Sydney Thorvaldson placed 10th in the 10k final with a career best time of 32:21.37, which moves her to No. 3 on the UA all-time list.
New Mexico’s Pamela Kosgei won the 10,000m in a meet record of 31:17.82 while NC State’s Grace Hartman finished second in 31:32.15 with West Virginia’s Joy Naukot third at 31:34.34.
Arkansas capped the evening with the top 4 x 400m relay time of 3:26.08 over Georgia (3:26.89), USC (3:27.31), Iowa (3:27.51), and South Carolina (3:27.95).
Running on the Razorback relay were Kaylyn Brown (51.71), Kayla Davis (52.12), Amirah Sharpe (52.80), and Rosey Effiong (49.45).
Earlier in the meet Effiong and Brown each finished second in their respective heats to advance to the 400m final on Saturday. Effiong’s season best of 50.49 ranked fourth overall while a 50.91 for Brown was sixth best.
Razorbacks competing in the 400m semifinal also included Aaliyah Pyatt (52.66), Sanaria Butler (52.78), and Joanne Reid (53.11).
Shania Myers clipped a hurdle early in the 100m hurdles and ran 13.52. Simone Ballard fell at the 10th hurdle and finished in 15.50.
Funminiyi Olajide finished 18th in the long jump with a mark of 19-8.75 (6.01). Sanu Jallow-Lockhart ran 2:03.02 in the 800m, but was disqualified for breaking too soon.
