Prince breaks 400m hurdle meet record to lead Razorback sweep

FAYETTEVILLE – In her first race at 400m hurdles this season, Razorback Saira Prince led a UA sweep as she broke the meet record with winning time of 56.18 seconds at the Arkansas Spring Invitational at John McDonnell Field.

Meanwhile, at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational, a crew of Razorbacks broke the facility and meet record in the 4 x 400m relay with a victorious time of 3:24.64, the No. 10 mark on the UA all-time list.

Arkansas bettered the facility record of 3:25.48 they set in 2025 at the NCAA West First Rounds as well as the meet record of 3:26.73 established by Texas A&M in 2021.

The Razorback foursome included Sanaria Butler, Analisse Batista [1:43.14], Kaylyn Brown (50.92), and Sanu Jallow-Lockhart (50.58). They finished ahead of Captain Athletics, an Arkansas alum pro group, that ran 3:28.37 with Paris Peoples, Britton Wilson [1:44.87], Nickisha Pryce (50.99), and Rosey Effiong (52.51).

Texas A&M placed third in 3:31.02 while another Razorback squad was fourth in 3:31.02.

Prince bettered the meet record of 58.06 set in 2012 by Missouri’s Leslie Farmer as teammates Morgan Herbst and Rae-Anne Serville finished second and third while racing in adjacent lanes.

Herbst, a freshman who has a career best of 55.78 from high school, posted a time of 57.07 that ranks No. 9 on the UA all-time list as Serville clocked 57.88, which is equal No. 11 on the UA all-time list.

Later in the meet Prince anchored the Razorback 4 x 400m relay to a meet record of 3:31.99 with a 52.88 split as Arkansas bettered the previous meet record of 3:32.42 set by Arkansas in 2025.

The relay consisted of Taejha Badal, Asia Thomas [1:45.85], Herbst (53.26) and Prince. Finishing well back were Pittsburg State (3:43.64) and Murray State (3:43.97).

Hurdle and sprint races were assisted by wind as Simone Ballard [13.152] and Gabriella Cunningham [13.157] both ran 13.16w (3.2) for third and fourth in the 100m hurdles with Prince fifth in 13.30w. Herbst set a career best of 13.83 (1.5) as she place third in another section.

Thomas claimed the 200m in 23.12w (2.7) with Badal third in 23.49w and Ryan Jennings fifth at 24.07w. Thomas finished third in her section of the 100m with an 11.33 (2.9) with Badal fourth (11.46w) and Jennings sixth (11.56w).

Hannah Estes tied for third place in the pole vault, clearing 13-0.25 (3.97).

Earlier in the Texas A&M meet, Peoples won the 400m in 51.05 ahead of Jallow-Lockhart, who set a career best and Gambia national record of 51.10. Batista followed with a 52.14 in third while alum Shafiqua Maloney placed fourth in 52.25 while Arianna Sharpe placed sixth in 53.22.

Abigail Campbell won another section of the 400m in 53.08 with Amirah Sharpe third in 53.77.

Competing in the 800m Invitational at Texas A&M, Madeleine Gear finished fifth in 2:09.78.
