Razorback Diving Defeats North Texas; Majo Sanchez Sets New 10-Meter Platform Pool Record
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas dive team capped off its two-day competition with a 221-129 win over the Mean Green Saturday morning.
Arkansas was able to build off its strong start from Friday, as they won both the platform and Team Events.
“I am really excited with how the ladies did today,” head diving coach Abel Sanchez said. “They dove well and consistently, which is what we’ve been working on. I feel good leading up to SECs, which are in a few weeks, and I’m excited to see what happens at the show.”
On top of an already stellar season for the Mexico City native, sophomore Majo Sanchez once again engraved her name into the program’s history — setting a record in the 10-meter platform diving. Sanchez shattered the previously held record of 297.98, setting the new score at 341.30.
“What can I say about Majo, she dove out of her mind today on platform,” head diving coach Abel Sanchez added. “Anytime someone breaks a pool record, it’s a great feat. Now we need to buckle down and really focus on entries as our hurdles are getting better and the tops are getting stronger.”
The Razorbacks will be back in action for SECs starting on Feb. 17 in Knoxville, Tenn.
