Razorbacks Bash Five Homers, Complete First Sweep of Longhorns in Program History

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Powered by five round-trippers, including Reese Robinett’s two-homer, six-RBI performance at the plate, No. 11 Arkansas (40-9, 17-7 SEC) completed its weekend series sweep of No. 1 Texas (38-8, 19-5) with a 13-8 win Saturday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium to match its best 24-game SEC start for the sixth time in program history.

With the win, the Razorbacks secured their first weekend series sweep of the Longhorns in program history as well as their first sweep against the country’s top-ranked team since a sweep against No. 1 LSU in 2001 at Baum-Walker Stadium. Saturday’s win also marked the Hogs’ 30th victory inside the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium this year, which clinched their seventh 30-win season at Baum-Walker Stadium since the venue opened in 1996 in process.

Arkansas, the first team in the country to hit the 40 overall win mark this season, improved to 17-7 in SEC play with Saturday’s series-sweeping win, matching its best 24-game SEC start for the sixth time in program history – a feat the team also accomplished during the 1999, 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2024 campaigns. Excluding the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, the Razorbacks are the only team in the country with 40 or more wins in each of the last eight full seasons.

In addition to Robinett’s two blasts, Kuhio Aloy (1-for-5, HR, 2 RBI), Justin Thomas Jr. (1-for-2, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB) and Charles Davalan (1-for-4, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB) also homered in the win. Wehiwa Aloy, meanwhile, led the Arkansas offense with three hits, raising his team-leading season slash line to .376/.464/.718 through 49 games on the year.

Texas opened the scoring with a two-out three-run homer in the top half of the third to take a 3-0 lead before Kuhio Aloy’s two-run blast in the bottom half of the inning pulled Arkansas within one. Razorback starter Landon Beidelschies struck out four but was tagged for four runs on four hits and two walks over his four innings of work on the mound.

Down by a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth, Robinett hit a game-tying two-run homer, his first of two on the day, before Thomas Jr. clobbered a go-ahead two-run blast, his eighth of the season, later in the inning. Arkansas’ 6-4 lead would not last long, however, as Texas responded with three runs in the top half of the fifth to pull ahead by one.

Robinett would single-handedly erase the 7-6 deficit in the fifth, belting a three-run homer in his very next at-bat to put the Hogs back in front. Before today, the Razorback infielder had not homered in a game since March 24, 2023, at LSU.

Davalan’s three-run blast in the seventh, Arkansas’ fifth and final homer of the afternoon, was the final blow, extending the Hogs’ lead to 12-7. Robinett collected his career-high sixth RBI in the eighth on a groundout to put the game away.

In relief, Dylan Carter earned the win to improve to 5-0 on the year, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Christian Foutch locked down the final 1.1 innings and struck out a pair to seal Arkansas’ sweep against Texas.

Up next, the Razorbacks will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for a SEC weekend series against the Tigers. First pitch in the series opener between Arkansas and LSU is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, on SEC Network+.
