Razorbacks Defeat Talented LSU Team On The Road
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Razorbacks defeated the LSU Tigers by a two-point margin, earning the win against a talented LSU program in a head-to-head matchup for the first time since October 19, 2013.
In the most recent CSCAA Coaches Poll, LSU narrowly missed the top-25, and Kentucky, who the Razorbacks beat to open the season is ranked at 19. Both wins have been against very solid SEC opponents and have required spectacular team efforts on the part of the Razorbacks.
The Hogs had nine first place finishes across sixteen events. Head swimming coach Neil Harper said of the team’s victory: “I am so proud of our entire team, it took a total team effort to pull off this road win.”
Veteran Razorback swimmers Alessia Ferraguti, Bella Cothern, and Adela Vavrinova combined for four individual wins as well as Ferraguti and Cothern helping secure a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Coach Harper emphasized how proud he is of the senior leadership on the team, remarking that he is “especially happy for our seniors who have watched, mentored, and invested in the culture, work ethic and improvement of our team.”
In the dive tank, Malea Martinez placed fourth in 1-meter diving followed by Isabella Perreira and Lauren French. In the 3-meter competition, Martinez earned a third-place finish with a score of 279.08. French placed fifth, scoring 258.30 followed by Perreira who scored 215.78.
