Razorbacks Finish Fifth In Georgia Tech Invitational
ATLANTA — The Arkansas swimming and diving team saw 67 season-bests and 32 lifetime-bests broken in the three-day Georgia Tech Invitational at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
In the 19-event meet, Arkansas finished in fifth place with 630 points. Ahead of the Razorbacks was Auburn, which won the invite with 1,142 points, followed by Florida with 922.5 points, Alabama with 909.5 points and South Carolina with 710 points.
In total, Arkansas swam 16 ‘B’ cuts during the three day invitational to go along with four zone qualifying dives by Nicole Gillis. Mary Margaret Soderberg led all Razorbacks with five ‘B’ cuts, followed by freshman Ayumi Macias with four ‘B’ cuts and two each by Chelsea Tatlow and Olivia Weekley. Jessie Garrison, Sydney Angell and Madison Strathman each had one ‘B’ cut.
Angell broke four lifetime-bests during the meet as Macias broke three along with Sarah Dalton Chambliss, Carly Holland and Caitlin Tootill. 18 Razorbacks broke lifetime-bests in Atlanta.
19 season-bests and eight lifetime-bests were broken on the final day.
Soderberg finished third in the 200 breaststroke in the ‘A’ final with a lifetime-best time of 2:12.89. Garrison touched fourth in the 200 butterfly finals in 1:59.99.
