Razorbacks Rout Golden Lions with Run-Rule Win in North Little Rock
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Kuhio Aloy racked up a season-high three hits and four RBI to power No. 16 Arkansas (25-13) to a 12-2 win in seven innings against UAPB (17-22) Tuesday night at CHI St. Vincent Field at Dickey-Stephens Park.
With the win, the Hogs improved to 8-2 in midweek games, including a 4-1 mark in midweek matchups against in-state foes, this season. Arkansas also improved to 32-6 against in-state opponents, including 8-0 against UAPB, since 1947.
The Razorbacks, now 13-2 all-time inside the home of the Arkansas Travelers, cruised past the Golden Lions behind an offensive barrage that featured 12 runs on 13 hits, nine walks and three hit batsmen. Arkansas scored in five of its seven innings at the plate, including three-spots in the third, fifth and seventh innings, to secure its 12-2 run-rule victory.
Aloy was one of three Hogs, along with Camden Kozeal (2-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) and Nolan Souza (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI), with multiple hits. He is now slashing .281/.346/.446 with five homers and 30 RBI, tied for third most on the team, this year.
Zack Stewart’s sac fly in the seventh scored Kozeal, who collected an RBI double earlier in the frame, from third to seal Arkansas’ victory in seven innings. Tuesday night’s triumph marked the Razorbacks’ eighth by run rule this season.
On the mound, the Hogs’ pitching staff combined for a seven-inning two-hitter with six strikeouts. Colin Fisher, who earned his fourth win of the campaign, fired three shutout frames with a strikeout in his first midweek start of the year.
Mark Brissey, one of three Razorback relievers used in the combined seven-inning two-hitter, worked a career-long 2.1 innings with a career high-matching three strikeouts. The true freshman allowed one hit and issued one walk in relief.
Up next, Arkansas returns inside the friendly confines of Baum-Walker Stadium for an SEC weekend series against fifth-ranked Georgia. First pitch in the opener between the Hogs and Bulldogs is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, on ESPNU.
