
Razorbacks score 10 points at NCAA Indoor, advance trio in 200m & 400m
BOSTON – Arkansas scored 10 points during Friday’s portion of the NCAA Indoor Championships, with Nia Robinson placing fourth in the long jump and the Razorbacks distance medley relay finishing fourth.
Florida leads the women’s field at 24 points with six of 17 events complete. The Gators are followed by Notre Dame (18), Ole Miss (16), and BYU (14). Arkansas is currently in seventh place with its 10 points.
The Razorback trio of Amber Anning, Rosey Effiong and Nickisha Pryce each qualified for the final of the 400m and 200m. Destiny Huven posted career best to reach the final of the 60m hurdles.
Robinson came within half an inch of the UA record in the long jump with her final round performance of 21-6.25 (6.56). Taliyah Brooks record jump of 21-6.75 (6.57) was set in 2018.
The effort by Robinson briefly moved her into third place, but last round monster jumps included a 22-0.25 (6.71) by Florida’s Claire Bryant to move into the overall lead followed by a 22-1.5 (6.74) from Iowa State’s Sydney Willits to reclaim the lead and win the competition.
A time of 10:56.15 in the distance medley relay ranks No. 7 on the UA all-time list. The Razorback foursome included Mia Cochran (3:22.56), Joanne Reid (52.54), Sanu Jallow (2:07.00), and Tiana LoStracco (4:34.05).
BYU won the relay in 10:51.42 over Notre Dame (10:53.14) and Florida (10:54.40).
Huven lowered her career best in the 60m hurdles to 8.03, moving to No. 6 on the UA all-time list, as she placed third in her prelim section and finished fifth overall to advance to the final.
Racing in the 400m first in the schedule, collegiate leader Anning led the field with a 50.74. Effiong followed in 51.17 in winning another section while Pryce won her section in 51.75. Those times placed 1-2-4 overall.
The first section included Kaylyn Brown and Reid. At the 200m point, the pair of Razorbacks bumped into one another and knocked each other off stride. Brown clocked 52.97 while Reid ran 52.98 and neither advanced.
Effiong led the Arkansas crew in the 200m as she equaled her career best of 22.51, which ranks No. 2 on the UA all-time list. With the top eight times advancing to the final, Pryce and Anning occupied the final two places for the final with times of 22.79 by Pryce and 22.90 for Anning.
