FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas will take its four-game SEC winning streak on the road to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday (Feb. 9). Tip-off at Colonial Life Arena is set for 2:30 pm (CT) / 3:30 pm (ET) and the game will be telecast on the SEC Network.
This will be the 34th meeting between Arkansas and South Carolina, all coming since both programs joined the SEC in 1991-92. The Razorbacks own a 20-13 advantage in the series while the series is tied, 7-7, in games played at South Carolina. Arkansas has won three straight in the series and five of the last six.
The Razorbacks will look to reach a milestone at South Carolina. Arkansas has made at least one 3-pointer in 999 consecutive games. The last time the Razorbacks were shutout from beyond the arc was an 0-for-2 outing at Texas on Jan. 7, 1989. After that, the current streak began when Keith Wilson hit a trey versus TCU on Jan. 11, 1989. (Wilson was 1-5 and team was 1-of-7.)
The Razorbacks own the fifth-longest streak in the NCAA for consecutive games with a 3-pointer made. UNLV (1,067 games) and Vanderbilt (1,053 games) lead the list as programs have made a triple in every game since the NCAA adopted the 3-point shot. Duke is third (1,043 games) followed by Western Kentucky – which made a 3-pointer in its 1,000th consecutive game Thursday (Feb. 7) – and Arkansas (999 games).
- Dating back to Jan. 15 (at Tennessee), Arkansas is in the middle of a nine-game span that includes six road games (at then #3 Tennessee, at then #18 Ole Miss, at then #13 Texas Tech, at then #19 LSU, at South Carolina Saturday and at Missouri Tuesday).
- However, Arkansas will close the regular season with a home game in each of the final four Saturdays (Mississippi State on Feb. 16, Texas A&M on Feb. 23, Ole Miss on Mar. 2 and Alabama on Mar. 9 for the regular-season finale).
- Arkansas took six charges in its last game (Vanderbilt) and has taken at least one charge in 10 straight games. Over that 10-game span, Arkansas has taken a total of 27 charges. Arkansas has taken 10 charges over the last two games (four at LSU and six versus Vanderbilt).
- The Razorbacks took 47 charges last season and have taken 50 to date this season.
- Isaiah Joe is five 3-pointers shy of owning the record for 3-pointers made in a season by a freshman. Joe has made 79 in 22 games this season. Rotnei Clarke currently owns the mark with 83 triples in 2009.
- Joe is also on pace to set the overall Arkansas single-season record for 3-pointers made and the SEC mark 3-pointers made by freshman (Kentucky’ Jamal Murray currently owns the record with 113).
- Earlier this year, Arkansas had a six-game win streak. Under Mike Anderson, Arkansas has had win streaks of at least six games in six of his eight years as Arkansas head coach. Arkansas has won four straight SEC games. The Razorbacks have won at least four straight SEC games in each of the last six years. The Razorbacks’ best SEC win streak during the last six years is seven in 2014-15 (Feb. 3-24).
- Now in his eighth season, the Razorbacks are 38-20 (.655 winning percentage) in February — its best month in SEC play historically under Coach Anderson. The Razorbacks have won at least six games in February in four of the last five seasons.
