Road To Nationals Rankings Alabama Tickets

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas gymnastics team moved up to No. 10 in this week’s Road To Nationals weekly rankings after the first week of competition. The Razorbacks posted a score of 195.575 against Oklahoma.

Sophomore Sophia Carter, who scored a 9.950 on the floor in the meet, is tied for first nationally on the event. The No. 1 individual national ranking is Arkansas’ first since Katherine Grable was ranked No. 1 in the All-Around on Jan. 20, 2014. It’s the 20th overall No. 1 ranking for an individual at Arkansas.

Individual Rankings
Apart from Carter, fellow sophomore Sarah Shaffer is ranked No. 11 on the floor following the first weekend of competition. The Tyler, Texas native posted Arkansas second highest score from the weekend of 9.900 on the floor.

Senior Sydney McGlone and freshman Kennedy Hambrick led Arkansas off with a 9.825 on vault Saturday to come in at No. 33 nationally on the apparatus. Hambrick’s was one of two freshman to score a 9.825 or higher on the event in the Southeastern Conference this past weekend. She also posted a 9.800 on the floor, and was one of seven freshmen in the league to compete in multiple events. Among those, the Pearland, Texas native was the only freshman in the conference to score a 9.800 or higher on every event competed.

On the beam, Arkansas placed two scores of 9.875 Saturday, as juniors Michaela Burton and Jessica Yamzon led the Gymbacks on the event. The pair come in at No. 15 on the event nationally.

Arkansas is slated to hit the road this weekend to face Arizona in Tucson. The Razorbacks will return home on Feb. 8 for the conference home opener against the Crimson Tide of Oklahoma. Tickets for the meet can be purchased here.
