Razorbacks Wrap Up Day Two From Atlanta

ATLANTA — The Arkansas swimming and diving team sent six swimmers to the ‘A’ finals and saw one diver finish second in the 1m springboard on Friday in the Georgia Tech Invitational at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Through 13 events, Arkansas sits in fourth place with 465 points. The Razorbacks trail Auburn, which leads with 760 points, followed by Florida with 610 points and Alabama with 581 points.

Arkansas saw 30 season bests and 15 lifetime bests get broken on day two to go along with four ‘B’ cuts. Through two days at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Arkansas has already broken 48 season-bests, 24 lifetime-bests and posted 11 ‘B’ cuts. All four of Nicole Gillis’ dives through two days have been zone qualifying scores.

Gillis had a score of 289.75 on the 1m springboard that placed second in the prelims. In the finals, Gillis scored another zone score of 309.95 to finish second in the finals of the event behind Julie Vincent of South Carolina (313.95).

Olivia Weekley finished third in the 100 butterfly finals with a ‘B’ cut time of 53.60 after breaking her lifetime best with a time of 53.40 in the prelims. Mary Margaret Soderberg (4:17.39) swam a ‘B’ cut time in the prelims of the 400 individual medley, while Ayumi Macias swam a ‘B’ cut time in the event finals with a time of 4:14.54.

In the prelims of the 400 IM, Sarah Easterling broke her individual best with a time of 4:27.66 and proceeded to break it again in the finals with a time of 4:24.44.
