Remy Cofield named Deputy AD & General Manager for Razorback Athletics

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Boston Celtics’ executive Remy Cofield has been named deputy athletics director and general manager for Razorback Athletics it was announced by Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek on Monday. He will officially join the Razorbacks on April 1.

Cofield, a 12-year veteran in professional sports and sports business, will oversee the strategic allocation of department and affiliate resources to support Razorback head coaches in the acquisition and retention of championship-caliber athletic talent. He will lead player contract negotiations and collaborate with head coaches, recruiting coordinators and administrative staff in implementing each program’s strategic vision.

“As we continue to position our sports programs for success, Remy Cofield will play an integral role in assisting our coaches in acquiring and retaining student-athletes to compete in the Southeastern Conference and nationally,” Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Hunter Yurachek said. “In his tenure with the Boston Celtics, Remy was a key front office player in building a championship franchise. His blend of experience both in sports and business makes him distinctly qualified to help lead our efforts in this new era of college athletics. Remy will work alongside our coaches and staff in all sports, to develop a strategic plan, prioritizing our rosters within the available resources. We look forward to welcoming Remy, his wife Tori and their three boys to Northwest Arkansas and into our Razorback Family.”

Cofield joined the Boston Celtics’ organization of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in May 2013 and has worked in various roles since joining the franchise. Since June 2020, he has served as the Director of Scouting for the defending NBA Champions.

In his most recent role with the Celtics, Director of Scouting, Cofield assisted in all facets of roster construction, including trades, draft picks and free agency and salary cap management and strategy.

At various points during his tenure with the Celtics, he oversaw the scouting efforts of the Southeastern Conference, Atlantic Coast Conference, Big Ten, Big East and Atlantic 10 Conference. Cofield also traveled to scout and evaluate talent in high school, college, international, the NBA and the G-League during his 12 seasons with the team.

In addition to his Director of Scouting role, Cofield also served as the general manager of the Maine Celtics for two years. He put together a G-League roster for the Celtics for the 2021-22 season that saw six different players receive call-ups to the NBA, including Luke Kornet, Theo Pinson, Ryan Arcidiacono, Juwan Morgan, Jaysean Paige and Chris Clemons.

Prior to the Director of Scouting role, Cofield was a college scout for the Celtics while also serving as general manager of the Maine Red Claws. As the GM, he was in charge of player personnel, making final decisions related to training camp/exhibit 10 players, tryout players, G-League draft picks and returners. Cofield also coordinated strategy for the Red Claws, including leading trade discussions, making waiver decisions and implementing the overall strategy for the team.

Cofield’s first full-time position with the Celtics came as a basketball operations assistant, following an internship with the business development and corporate sales department of the organization.

A Newton, Mass. native, Cofield was a collegiate men’s basketball player at the University of Pennsylvania in the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. A graduate of Roxbury Latin High School, Cofield was a four-year letterwinner, four-year all conference selection and two-year captain of his high school basketball team. He was a McDonald’s All-America nominee and a runner up for the 2007 Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year.

Cofield earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Penn and an MBA from Bentley University. Cofield and his wife Tori have three sons, Mason, Dominic and Quincy.
