SEC Indoor Championships next goal for No. 1 Arkansas
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Following a decade of dominance, No. 1 Arkansas aims for an 11th consecutive SEC Indoor team title this weekend as Texas A&M hosts the SEC Championships this Thursday through Saturday at Fasken Indoor Track.
The Razorbacks have claimed a conference record 14 SEC Indoor titles since joining the league for the 1991-92 season. Last year Arkansas totaled 131 points to defeat Florida (80) and LSU (68.5).
“We’re excited, it’s the conference meet and the SEC Championship is the cream of the crop,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Chris Johnson. “So, we want to get out here and compete with the very best and see how we match up. We’re in the postseason now, so we’re going to line up and get after it.
“It’s nice to have a winning streak, but we don’t necessarily focus on it. I don’t know if the girls realize it has been 10 years in a row. Every meet is different, every team is different. So, we just need to focus on this team and be the very best Arkansas team we can be at the 2025 SEC Indoor Championships.”

In the updated national rankings this week, the Razorbacks remained in the No. 1 position over BYU, Oregon, Texas Tech, and Illinois. Eight other SEC schools ranked among the top 25 include No. 7 Georgia, No. 9 LSU, No. 10 Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas A&M, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 16 Tennessee, No. 18 Florida, and No. 22 Alabama.
SEC rankings, which account for team depth, has the Razorbacks in the top position over Oklahoma, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, and Kentucky.
This will be the first away meet of the season for Arkansas, who hosted four home meets this indoor season.
“It will take a little bit of an adjustment, because we’ve been at home and sleeping our own beds,” noted Johnson. “Now, we’re in College Station and we’ll be sleeping in a hotel. These kids are competitors. The track is still 200m around and the start line is the same.
‘Obviously, it’s a beautiful facility and we want to test it out. We want to see if we can drag race a little bit on it.”
Arkansas has a pair of SEC event leaders in Sanu Jallow-Lockhart (800m) and the 4 x 400m relay. There are 19 Razorbacks holding 26 top eight positions, including both relays, in their respective events in the SEC this season.
Returning Razorback medalists from a year ago include Jallow-Lockhart (silver, 800m), Rachel Glenn (silver, high jumo), Nia Robinson (silver, long jump), Kaylyn Brown (bronze, 400m), Tiana LoStrocco (bronze, Mile) and the silver medal 4 x 400m relay.
