SEC weekly honors for Amanda Fassold, distance medley relay

BIRMINGHAM – A pair of weekly SEC honors were awarded to pole vaulter Amanda Fassold as well as the Razorback distance medley relay team of Mary Ellen Eudaly, Amber Anning, Lainey Quandt, and Lauren Gregory.

Fassold, the collegiate leader in the pole vault with a height of 14-10.75 (4.54), produced the top vaulting mark this past weekend as she won the Arkansas Qualifier with a 14-9 (4.50) clearance.

The next best height on the weekend was 14-5.5 (4.41) by a pair of teammates from Virginia Tech.

Arkansas, the defending national champions in the distance medley relay, broke the school record with a 10:49.14 runner-up performance in the Arkansas Qualifier as Oregon won the race in 10:49.07.

In breaking the 10:51.37 effort to win the 2022 NCAA Indoor title, the splits from Razorback foursome included 3:20.56 over 1,200m for Eudaly, 52.47 for Anning with the 400m, 2:05.88 for Quandt on 800m leg, and 4:30.23 for Gregory over the final 1,600m.

On the all-time world list, Arkansas ranks No. 9 and is No. 4 on the collegiate all-time list as they become the third-fastest school. On a combined indoor and outdoor all-time collegiate list, the Razorbacks are No. 5 as the fourth-fastest school.

With the SEC Indoor Championships being held at the Randal Tyson Track Center this weekend, Fassold will compete in the pole vault on Friday evening. Fassold claimed the 2022 SEC Outdoor pole vault title and was the silver medalist at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Fassold entered this indoor season with a best of 14-5.5 (4.41) and improved to 14-7.25 (4.45) to win the Razorback Invitational in January and shared with the collegiate lead with two other vaulters.

A 14-10.75 (4.54) victory in New Mexico moved Fassold to No. 5 on the UA all-time list as well as No. 10 on the U.S. collegiate all-time list as she took sole possession of the 2023 collegiate lead.
