Seven Hogs Taken on Final Day of MLB Draft; Arkansas Ties Program Record with 11 Selections
ATLANTA – Seven Razorbacks heard their names called between Rounds 4-20 on the second and final day of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday, July 14, bringing Arkansas’ total draft selections to a nation-leading and program record-tying 11.
Right-handed pitcher Christian Foutch (Boston Red Sox – 5th round, No. 148 overall), right-handed pitcher Aiden Jimenez (Kansas City Royals – 5th round, No. 158 overall), left-handed pitcher Landon Beidelschies (Atlanta Braves – 6th round, No. 187 overall), infielder Brent Iredale, (Pittsburgh Pirates – 7th round, No. 203 overall), right-handed pitcher Ben Bybee (San Francisco Giants – 8th round, No. 236 overall), outfielder Justin Thomas Jr. (Houston Astros – 11th round, No. 336 overall) and left-handed pitcher Parker Coil (Milwaukee Brewers – 16th round, No. 485 overall) became the 272nd, 273rd, 274th, 275th, 276th, 277th and 278th draft selections in Arkansas program history as well as the 149th, 150th, 151st, 152nd, 153rd, 154th and 155th draft picks in the Dave Van Horn era (2003-present).
Including yesterday’s four first-round selections, the Razorbacks had 11 total players picked during this year’s 20-round draft, which tied the program’s single-draft record previously set in 2013 (11) and 2018 (11) when the draft was 40 rounds. Arkansas (11) and Florida State (11) tied for the most draft selections of any college program this year.
Excluding 2020’s pandemic-shortened draft, six or more Razorbacks have been selected in each of the last nine drafts since 2016. Since 2018, Arkansas boasts a nation-leading 64 total draft selections, including 35 drafted pitchers and 28 drafted position players in that span. Additionally, since Matt Hobbs’ first season as pitching coach in 2019, Arkansas has had 30 pitchers selected in the draft, including 22 pitchers taken in the first 10 rounds. The Hogs matched their record for the most pitchers selected in a single draft (seven pitchers selected in the 2013 MLB Draft) with seven this year.
This year’s draft also marked the fourth time in program history that Arkansas had double-digit players selected: 1985 (10), 2013 (11), 2018 (11) and 2025 (11). The 1985 draft was 39 rounds, while the 2013 and 2018 drafts were 40 rounds.
In addition to the Razorbacks’ 11 total draftees, four signees – transfer infielder Dylan Grego (San Diego Padres – 13th round, No. 400 overall), high school right-handed pitcher McLane Moody (Pittsburgh Pirates – 15th round, No. 443 overall), junior college right-handed pitcher Denton Biller (Baltimore Orioles – 16th round, No. 484) and high school infielder Landon Schaefer (Philadelphia Phillies – 20th round, No. 611 overall) – were selected in this year’s draft.
Following the draft, right-handed pitcher Dylan Carter signed an undrafted free agent deal with the San Francisco Giants, while outfielder Logan Maxwell signed an undrafted free agent deal with the New York Yankees.
