Smith Named Collegiate Baseball All-American
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas pitcher Hagen Smith has been named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
Smith is one of seven pitchers to earn first-team recognition from the national publication. The Razorback left-hander began the campaign as Arkansas’ No. 1 starter but transitioned to a “wild card” role at the start of SEC play due to injuries to the pitching staff before moving back into the Hogs’ starting rotation.
For the season, Smith has made 16 appearances with 10 starts on the mound and boasts an 8-1 record with a team-leading 2.69 ERA and two saves over 67 innings of work. The true sophomore has struck out 102 batters, nine shy of entering Arkansas’ top 10 for single-season strikeouts, and limited opposing hitters to a meager .199 batting average.
Smith is the 32nd Razorback in program history to be named an All-American. The Bullard, Texas, native is also a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to the top amateur baseball player in the nation, and the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Award.
