10 Things To Know – LSU

Following a bye week, the Razorbacks are back in action when they host No. 8 LSU at Donald W. Reynolds Stadium for the Battle of the Golden Boot presented by Cox Communications. Kickoff between Arkansas and LSU is set for 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, on ESPN.

1 – Arkansas enters Saturday night’s showdown seeking consecutive wins against ranked opponents for the first time since 2015, when they defeated No. 19 Ole Miss and No. 9 LSU on the road. The last time the Razorbacks had consecutive wins over ranked foes at home was in 2014, when they topped No. 20 LSU and No. 8 Ole Miss.

2 – Saturday’s matchup will be the 70th meeting between the rivals, with LSU leading the all-time series 44-23-2. The Razorbacks are seeking their first win over the Tigers in Fayetteville since 2014 and first overall since 2021. The last four matchups between the programs have been decided by a single possession. Saturday is also homecoming. Arkansas is 61-37-4 (.618) all-time in homecoming games.

3 – RB Ja’Quinden Jackson has rushed for a touchdown in all six games this season. He is the first Arkansas running back to rush for a touchdown in six consecutive games since Knile Davis in 2010. The last Arkansas running back to run for a touchdown in seven straight games was Darren McFadden in 2006.

4 – WR Andrew Armstrong has 38 receptions for 552 yards and zero touchdowns through the first six games. He is the only FBS player with 35+ receptions or 500+ receiving yards and no receiving touchdowns this season. Armstrong has registered a reception in 33 consecutive games and has recorded multiple receptions in 28 straight games since his 2021 season at Texas A&M-Commerce.

5 – Since 2021, Arkansas has won three consecutive games when coming off its bye week. The Razorbacks are 27-22-1 following an off week since 1969 (excluding COVID).

6 – Arkansas ranks eighth nationally in total offense per game (484.8) and 12th nationally in average time of possession (33:05). The Razorbacks are just one of three FBS teams to rank in the top 15 of both statistical categories joining the likes of Miami and Syracuse.

7 – With a win against LSU, Arkansas would improve to 3-1 or better through four SEC games for the first time under head coach Sam Pittman and the sixth time (1993, 1995, 1998, 2006 and 2011) since joining the conference in 1992.

8 – The Razorbacks RB Ja’Quinden Jackson (566 rushing yards) and WR Andrew Armstrong (552 receiving yards) are one of nine RB/WR duos nationally with 500+ rushing yards and 500+ receiving yards this season.

9 – Saturday’s matchup will mark the 10th season that Arkansas has hosted multiple Top 10 opponents at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium since its opening in 1938, including the third time in the Sam Pittman era. Previous seasons in which the Razorbacks have hosted multiple Top 10 opponents include 2022 (2 games), 2020 (2 games), 2018 (2 games), 2016 (2 games), 2014 (2 games), 2013 (2 games), 2012 (2 games), 1981 (2 games), 1965 (2 games). The last time Arkansas defeated multiple Top 10 opponents at home was 1965, when the Hogs defeated No. 1 Texas (27-24) and No. 9 Texas Tech (42-24). Saturday will also mark the first time Arkansas has hosted Top 10 opponents consecutively at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

10 – Through five games this season, Arkansas has had 120 plays of 10+ yards after recording 168 plays of 10+ yards through the entirety of last season. The Razorbacks’ 120 plays of 10+ yards rank fourth nationally while their 36 plays of 20+ yards rank 17th.
