10 Things To Know – Ole Miss

The Razorbacks return to Donald W. Reynolds Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 2, for an 11 a.m. showdown with No. 19 Ole Miss on ESPN.

1 – An Arkansas win on Saturday would clinch bowl eligibility for the fourth time in five seasons under head coach Sam Pittman.

2 – Saturday’s matchup will be the 69th meeting between the programs. The Razorbacks hold a 38-29-1 all-time series lead over the Rebels, including a 13-2 advantage in games played in Fayetteville. Arkansas has won five straight over Ole Miss at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, with the last loss coming in 2008.

3 – Braylen Russell earned his first collegiate start in place of the injured Ja’Quinden Jackson at Mississippi State (Oct. 26) and logged his first career 100-yard rushing game in the process, breaking loose for a career-high 175 yards on 16 carries (10.9 ypc) to become the first Arkansas freshman to rush for 175+ yards in a game since RB Darren McFadden in 2005. Russell, whose 175 rushing yards are the most in a game by any freshman running back in the country this year, also became just the third Arkansas freshman since at least 1997 to rush for 150+ yards in a game, joining McFadden (2005) and RB Alex Collins (2013). As a result of his efforts, he was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

4 – WR Andrew Armstrong, ranks seventh nationally in receiving yards per game with 103.1 a contest and is one of only two SEC pass catchers averaging 100-plus yards receiving per game this season.

5 – The Razorbacks are seeking their seventh 4-2 or better start in league play since joining the SEC in 1992. Previous starts of 4-2 or better include 1995 (5-2), 1998 (5-1), 2006 (6-0), 2010 (4-2), 2011 (5-1) and 2015 (4-2).

6 – Under the guidance of offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino, Arkansas has eclipsed the 600-yard mark in three games this season after doing so just four times total from 2018-2023.

7 – Arkansas ranks second nationally in plays over 10 yards from scrimmage with 161 this season through eight games. The Hogs registered 168 plays of 10+ yards throughout the entirety of last season. Arkansas also ranks eighth nationally in scrimmage plays over 20 yards with 50.

8 – During last week’s win at Mississippi State, QB Taylen Green became the first Arkansas quarterback to throw for five touchdowns and rush for a touchdown in a single game since Ryan Mallett accomplished the feat against UTEP in 2010. He is one of two Power 4 quarterbacks to throw for five touchdowns and rush for a touchdown in a single game this season, joining Cade Klubnik of Clemson. On Tuesday, Green became the first Arkansas player to be named Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week since Ryan Mallett on Sept. 19, 2010.

9 – The Razorbacks are 24-3 and have won three straight games under Sam Pittman when leading going into the fourth quarter.
