10 Things To Know – Tennessee

Arkansas returns to the friendly confines of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium for only the second time through the first six weeks of the season to host fourth-ranked Tennessee. Kickoff between the Razorbacks and Volunteers is set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, on ABC.

1 – Arkansas enters Saturday night’s primetime contest seeking its first home win over a top-five opponent since defeating third-ranked Tennessee, 28-24, on Nov. 13, 1999. The Hogs have won three consecutive games (2011, 2015, 2020) against the Volunteers and have won each of the last three meetings between the two teams in Fayetteville (2006, 2011, 2020), with their last home loss coming in 2001.

2 – Saturday’s matchup will be the 20th all-time between the Hogs and the Vols, with Tennessee holding a 13-6 series lead. Arkansas holds the all-time advantage in games played in Fayetteville with a 4-2 mark.

3 – DL Landon Jackson registered his second career multi-sack game while tallying a season-high eight tackles and three tackles for loss in last week’s contest against Texas A&M. It marked the third time Jackson registered three or more tackles for loss in a single game in his career. Jackson is the only Razorback since 1997 to have two games in his career with 8+ total tackles, 3+ TFLs and 2+ sacks. The feat has only been accomplished eight times by seven players since 1997.

4 – With a win against Tennessee, Arkansas would improve to 2-1 in SEC play for the first time under head coach Sam Pittman and the first time since 2011, when the Razorbacks, led by then-head coach Bobby Petrino, got off to a 2-1 SEC start before finishing 6-2 in league play and 11-2 overall.

5 – Through five games, Arkansas ranks fourth in the SEC and 13th in the country in total offense. The Hogs are averaging 495.0 total yards per game, including 212.0 rushing yards per game.

6 – Arkansas is one of seven schools nationally to rank in the Top 25 in third-down conversion percentage (5th, .554) and third-down conversion percentage defense (25th, .308), joining the likes of Tennessee, Missouri, USC, Ohio State, Texas and Indiana.

7 – Since 2020 (Sam Pittman’s first year as head coach), the Hogs have totaled 53 interceptions in 53 games. Arkansas’ 53 interceptions are tied for second-most among all SEC teams during that span.

8 – Arkansas has at least one player in the Top 25 nationally in passing yards (QB Taylen Green, 22nd, 1,236), rushing yards (RB Ja’Quinden Jackson, 13th, 509) and receiving yards (WR Andrew Armstrong, 22nd, 420). The only other FBS programs to have a player among the Top 25 in each are Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Washington State, Duke and Washington.

9 – RB Ja’Quinden Jackson has rushed for a touchdown in all five games this season. He is the first Arkansas running back to rush for a touchdown in five consecutive games since Alex Collins in 2015. The last Razorback running back to rush for touchdowns in six straight games was Knile Davis in 2010.

10 – Through five games this season, Arkansas has had 101 plays of 10-plus yards after recording 168 plays of 10-plus yards through the entirety of last season. The Razorbacks’ 101 plays of 10-plus yards rank third nationally.
