#25 Vanderbilt at Bud Walton Arena Thursday

FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Lady Razorbacks begin their final regular season week at Bud Walton Arena by hosting the Vanderbilt Commodores at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Vanderbilt (19-7) arrives at Arkansas ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press poll this week. The Lady’Backs (17-8) return home after a heartbreaking last second loss at Florida.

Thursday’s game pits the league’s most accurate shooting team against one of the tougher defenses. Vanderbilt is No. 1 in field goal percentage and three-point shooting percentage in the Southeastern Conference.

The Commodores have started a lineup the past few games that in many ways is the same size as the Lady’Backs, with leading scorer 6-1 Christina Wirth (13.7 ppg) leading the team. Wirth paired with 6-1 freshman Hannah Tuomi the last few games in the post, but Vanderbilt has 6-4 senior Liz Sherwood (11 ppg) as its second leading scorer coming off the bench.

Arkansas counters with the a rising star with junior Ayana Brereton and senior veterans Brittany Vaughn and Sarah Pfeifer. Brereton has become the team’s leading active scorer at 11.8 ppg with Lauren Ervin out for the year with a torn ACL.

Vaughn has moved to second on the team in overall scoring, but is the team’s top scorer in SEC games.

After Thursday’s game, Arkansas’ final regular season home game is Sunday against Kentucky. It will be Senior Day for the team.
