54 holes and 3 days to go at CordeValle Classic

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The No. 6 ranked University of Arkansas men’s golf team will make its final showing for the fall season Nov. 3-5 at the CordeValle Classic in San Martin, California.

At the 54-hole, three day event, the Razorbacks will face the strongest field they have seen all season. The teams include Arizona, Augusta State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Lamar, Northwestern, Santa Clara, UCLA, USC, Washington and 11th ranked Standford.

The golf team has been racing up the leaderboards all season with two team wins at the Maryland Collegiate Invitational and the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, a ninth place finish at the Gopher Invitational, and an incredibly close fourth place finish at last week’s Baylor Invitational.

At the Baylor Invitational where they suffered a three stroke upset., the Razorbacks went up against top teams Texas A&M, Lamar, and University of Oklahoma. After senior Andrew Landry triple bogied the final hole and Junior David Lingmerth doubled his, it left the Hogs in fourth place among the twelve teams in attendance.

The most recent NCAA rankings puts the Razorbacks at No. 6, ranking just below Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Southern California and Clemson University. On the individual front, three of Arkansas’ players, sophomore Jamie Marshall, junior Lingmerth, and senior Landry are ranked in the top 50 on the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.

Tournament play begins at 8:00 on Monday morning at the 7,169 yard par 72 course. Live tournament scoring will be available through Golfstat.
