All I want for the holidays....
Hi, My name is Rachel Carpenter… I’m from Suffolk, Virginia, and I’ll be heading home on December 7th. This I’m really looking forward to finally being able to go home, as I elected to stay stay with a friend and her family for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Christmas will be pretty simple this year, we’ll put up a nice—real tree and hang all the usual ornaments that adorn it each year—but it never, ever gets old, I love it.
My hobby outside of golf by-far, is cooking… Not baking, but actually cooking specific dishes.. This is one thing I have especially missed being able to do since being in school.. So, when I get back, I cannot wait to cook a filet mignon on the grill and have one of my AMAZING Caesar salads with it… Because, not only did I mention I love to cook, I also have some pretty awesome skills in the kitchen… For me, not only is taste important, but the presentation of my food is just as vital. The main thing I love about it is that I get to use all my creative juices that are also similar to being out on the golf course–creating, shaping, and executing exactly what I want. It gives me great satisfaction when it happens just as I envision it in my mind’s eye–in cooking and in golf.
Probably the best part of Christmas this year–besides being home and celebrating my Savior’s birth– will be going to Washington D.C. for a few days, including Christmas day. And, although I really dislike snow (it doesn’t allow me to play my sport), I am absolutely praying for it when we’re in the Nation’s Capital.
When Christmas wraps up (literally), my mother and I will head down to Florida so that I can play in the Harder Hall Women’s Invitational, one of the top women’s amateur tournaments in the country. I need to get the competition rust out so that I have all engines firing when our spring season comes around…
Hope everyone out there has a truly BLESSED Christmas with their families and that you reflect on what the real meaning of it is…
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
