Arkansas To Host SMU, Texas This Weekend In Dills

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team is set to host two matches this weekend, with SMU coming to town on Friday, while hosting No. 6 Texas on Sunday. The matches continue a streak of eight-consecutive matches in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks are currently 7-2 on the season after sweeping a pair of matches this past Sunday against Tulsa and Omaha. Arkansas is 6-0 inside the friendly confines of the Dills Indoor Courts. Texas will be Arkansas’ first ranked home opponent this season. The Razorbacks faced No. 2 Ohio State earlier this season in Columbus.

A pair of Razorbacks made their season debut in the Oracle ITA Rankings as Oscar Mesquida and Adam Sanjurjo come in at No. 97 and No. 120 in the singles rankings, respectively. Mesquida owns a 3-1 record in duals play, including a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents. Sanjurjo is 3-3, while touting an early 2-1 record against ranked players.

Overall, Enrique Paya, Alex Reco and Pedro Dominguez Alonso lead the Razorbacks with a 5-2 record in duals matches as the Razorbacks own a 35-17 record in singles dual play through nine matches.

In doubles, Enrique Paya and his partner Maxim verboven continue to lead the Hogs with a 5-2 record as the team owns a 15-8 record through nine matches.

Arkansas traveled to SMU and to Texas last season, defeating the Mustangs while falling to the Longhorns in Austin.
