Aubry introduced as Razorback soccer head coach

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Erin Aubry, the newly appointed head coach of the Arkansas soccer program, was formally introduced Monday afternoon to media and staff. The Razorbacks’ first-year coach was introduced by Jon Fagg, the senior associate athletic director for compliance and student-athlete services.“We set out to find someone with great playing experience and great coaching experience,” said Fagg, who also serves as the sport administrator for the soccer program. “Anytime you are searching for a head coach and can find someone with experience within the conference, that’s a bonus.“To say we hit a home run is an understatement. We found the absolute perfect candidate with a lot of energy for our student-athletes to lead our program in a new direction.”Aubry was hired Dec. 23, 2008, to become the seventh head coach in Razorback soccer history after serving the past four seasons at the helm of the Morehead State soccer program. She guided the Eagles to the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament bid. Aubry has prior SEC experience with stints as an assistant coach at Auburn and Ole Miss.“I want to start by saying how excited I am,” Aubry said. “I want to thank the University of Arkansas, specifically Jeff Long and Jon Fagg. They have given me great confidence to be the next leader of Arkansas soccer.“This is an amazing place that takes care of its student-athletes in an unbelievable way, so for me to be part of that is truly a dream come true for me. I’m excited to be here, I’m excited to be a Razorback and like it says everywhere, it’s a great time to be a Razorback.”Aubry will meet with the team as a whole for the first time Monday afternoon. Prior communication had been limited to emails, phone calls and individual meetings, but Aubry is ready to get the team together in preparation for spring training sessions.“There is a tremendous amount of energy to get going on both sides, so we’re definitely going to build on that,” Aubry said. The Razorback soccer team will begin spring workouts on Jan. 19.
