Bill's Blog: Georgia

10:35 p.m. — That will do it from here in Fayetteville. Ryan Mallett has a record-setting debut as a Razorback on Frank Broyles Field but Georgia comes away with the win. Arkansas racks up 485 yards of offense while Georgia has 530 — over 1,000 yards combined and 93 points. Good night from Fayetteville — postgame presser will be on-line as soon as possible along with the game story.

10:33 p.m. — There’s the knee, and that will end the ball game, Georgia 52, Arkansas 41.

10:32 p.m. — Cox takes one knee, looks like he’ll need one more to make it to the end of the game.

10:31 p.m. — On the ensuing kickoff, Arkansas fighting to get a score and Mallett goes incomplete; Hogs forced to go on fourth down. Gets only half the distance he needs so with :59 seconds left the ball goes over on downs to UGA.

10:27 p.m. — UGA gets the field goal and extends its lead to 52-41, more important, winds clock to near two minutes.

10:26 p.m. — Bulldogs keeping it on the ground trying to grind out the clock, now down to 2:16. King centers the ball on the last carry to set up for a fourth down field goal kick. Arkansas calls time out.

10:24 p.m. — Harris makes a touchdown saving tackle on King as he rambles down to the Razorback 10 after a 19-yard run.

10:23 p.m. — A short punt that catches unfortunate back spin puts Georgia in business on the Arkansas 29 yard line.

10:20 p.m. — Mallett’s pass to a wide-open Adams is deflected away, then a sack puts Arkansas 3rd and 16 on its own four.

10:18 p.m. — Wow, a 61-yard punt puts Hogs on their own nine yard line for this potentially tying drive.

10:16 p.m. — Tenarius Wright’s tackle for a loss sets up a third and 11 for UGA. Cox looks deep and finds absolutely nothing. Three and out for the Bulldogs and with the clock stopped at 5:37 for the incomplete, lots of time for the Razorbacks.

10:12 p.m. — Georgia in business on its own 28 after the kickoff. Hogs need to prevent another long drive eating clock time by the Bulldogs, and on first down get a fumble, but its’ covered by the Bulldogs.

10:10 p.m. — Mallett scrambles, and slides in for fourth and four at the six. Petrino goes for three as the Hogs are in a two score situation. Kick is good, 49-41 Georgia with 7:21 left.

10:08 p.m. — Mallett has now broken the UA single game passing record with 395 yards and counting.

10:08 p.m. — Michael Smith jitterbugs his way through the Bulldogs down to the 17 yard line, 23 yard gain.

10:06 p.m — Mallett rips one to the far boundry across his body to Joe Adams in stride for 23 yards, 1st and ten; Smith then breaks free for almost 10 yards. Hogs now at the 35 of UGA.

10:05 p.m — Kickoff is out of bounds, puts Razorbacks in business at the 40 yard line.

10:02 p.m. — Cox goes to Green for 28 yards and the PAT is good, Georgia leads 49-38 over Hogs with 10:46 left in the game.

10:01 p.m. — It’s official, we’ve been shut down on @RazorbackRoad for too many tweets in an hour; we’ll try to get the limit opened for the next event; shift over to @ArkRazorbacks.

10:00 p.m. — Flag on the field, false start for UGA on third and less than one. Now third and five.

9:59 p.m. — Samuel pounds the ball upfield to the Razorback 26; takes Samuel to 105 yards on the night.

9:58 p.m. — Give Cox credit, he finds King in the right flat to convert the first down. This is what goes for a "time consuming" drive tonight.

9:57 p.m. — After time out, insane volume level and the Georgia tight end lunges off sides and makes contact. The five yard penalty will make it third and seven.

9:54 p.m. — Georgia calls a time out, first of the second half.

9:53 p.m. — Student body left of sorts out of the shotgun for Brandon Smith nets little; 3rd and three and the crowd begins to roar.

9:52 p.m. — Fortunate roll gives Arkanas a 50 yard punt, pinning UGA at its 28 yard line. Michael Moore gets a 23 yard catch and run to put UGA back at midfield with the first down.

9:51 p.m. — And Georgia forces three and out from Arkansas. That’s the first time tonight the respective offenses have been held to a single series of downs.

9:50 p.m. — Crowd wanted interference on toss to Joe Adams over the middle, the replay didn’t help their mood.

9:47 p.m. — Mallett passes incomplete and we finish the third quarter; Georgia 42, Arkansas 38. Hang on tight, 15 more minutes to go from Fayetteville

9:44 p.m. — On a night with huge offense, Razorbacks get something rare — a three and out from UGA thanks to a huge break-up of a pass to King.

9:43 p.m. — Cox goes for six again, Tavarres King gets the spacing but the ball caroms off his outstretched hands at the Hog 20.

9:43 p.m. — The fog/mist that is wafting through the stadium looks like something out of a bad werewolf movie on the Scottish moors.

9:41 p.m. — 8 plays and 65 yards on the drive that ends in a 23 yard Tejada field goal. Mallett has two incompletes before finding Williams to the six on third down. Now UGA 42, Arkansas 38 with 1:20 left in third quarter.

9:36 p.m. — Mallett looks off right, then back left to a WIIIIIIIIDDDDDDEEEEE open Greg Childs. So wide open you hope for a catch, which he makes and almost breaks away from the UGA DB. Knocked out of bounds at the nine yard line.

9:34 p.m. — Michael Smith slips, then kicks it into gear to haul around the left side for 11 yards and a first down at the UGA 39. Vance Cuff is injured on the play for UGA, trainers taking their time and now helping him to his feet. Round of applause from the fifth largest crowd in school history.

9:31 p.m. — Mallett from the shotgun on first down, looks and find Joe Adams out at the 49 yard line. Play is reviewed but stands as called.

9:29 p.m. — Cox lofts for the deep right corner and finds Green, PAT is good and its now UGA 42, UA 35. There’s still 4:34 left in the third quarter. Georgia scores on a two-play, 60 yard drive. 77 total points and we have almost 20 minutes of clock time left in this one.

9:27 p.m. — Call me clarvoyant, Cox goes downtown for six and just like that it’s 40-35. Georgia is going for two — stop me if you’ve heard this before, but penalty on the play, this time delay of game. UGA not going for PAT, going for the long two pointer.

9:26 p.m. — Cox goes over the middle to Charles, 1st down in Razorback territory for the 1st and 10 at the 44; get the feeling last team with the ball wins this shootout.

9:24 p.m. — The @RazorbackRoad twitter feed has shut down, we will shift the feed to @ArkRazorbacks for the time being until it recovers.

9:22 p.m. — Mallett finds Williams on fourth down for the TD.

9:11 p.m. — UGA is going for two, Cox rolls right and finds Moore at the goal line. Flag on the play. Holding on UGA, back it up to the 12, now PAT attempt. It’s good to make it UGA 34, Arkansas 28 with 7:51 left in the third.

9:10 p.m. — Cox hits Michael Moore at midfield for the UGA first down. Cox audibles, his play clock gets to 1, goes for it all again and find Tavarres King for six.

9:08 p.m. — Cox goes for broke and overthrows a pair of receivers, flag on play, looks like its against UGA. Holding backs the Dogs up to the 25 for 1st and 20. King looks for the middle hole that was so useful for UGA in the first half, nothing much there this time. Only a four yard gain.

9:07 p.m. — Boykin brings it out form the goal line, eludes several tacklers and works it out to the 36 yard line.

9:05 p.m. — Mallett’s touchdown is his fourth tonight, a personal best, and ties him with six other players for the UA record for most TD tosses in a single game.

9:03 p.m. — Perfect touch pass to Childs from Mallett to the 10, Childs shifts the ball to his left arm to evade the Georgia defensive back who tosses him into the end zone. Touchdown Arkansas, and the PAT makes it 28-27.

8:59 p.m. — Smith to the right side, gobbles up five yards to the 45 for second down. Quick out to Childs makes it third and one and Green bulls forward for what looks like a first down. They’ll bring out the chains to check. Just short and Petrino goes for it. Mallett unstoppable on the keep, first down Hogs.

8:58 p.m. — Three step drop, Mallett gets it toward Williams, incomplete; Smith bulls up the middle on second for seven. Mallett makes the connection this time with Williams for the first down out to midfield.

8:55 p.m. — Samuel doesn’t have the same luck and gets dropped for no gain by Nelson. 3rd and six, huge noise. Green gets the catch on third, but can’t break away this time. Fourth down for UGA. Butler back to punt, gets a low punt field ed by Norton who slips a couple of tacklers and moves it out to the UA 34.

8:55 p.m. — Razorbacks get good penetration, but Samuel evades for a four yard gain to the 13.

8:54 p.m. — Smith gets little on the return for UGA, but flags everywhere. Block in the back on UGA backs up the Dogs to the nine.

8:53 p.m. — Here we go for the second half.

8:49 p.m. — UA individual stats; Mallett 10-16-0 for 208 yards and 3 TDs; Wright 3-90 yds, 1 TD, Childs 2-66 yds, Smith 2-20 yds, Adams 1-18 yds 1 TD; UA rushing however is Johnson 6-16 yds, Smith 1-3 yds, Wingo 2-0 yds, Mallett 1 for -1.

8:33 p.m. — Hall of Honor class of 2009 honored on the field at this time.

8:32 p.m. — As we go to halftime; a misting fog is moving through the stadium. Are we in Seattle?

8:29 p.m. — Cox eludes sack, gets it down to A.J. Green at the 14. Clock is running, 32 yard FG attempt and flag on the field; motion on UGA. Now a 37 yard field goal attempt by Walsh to end the first half, Georgia 27, Arkansas 21.

8:28 p.m. — Cox finds MIke Moore again, this time cutting from the right side. Cox makes an incomplete to stop clock, but chains were moving. Huge sack of Cox should kill chance for a score. 10 yard loss. Sheppard and Bequette on tackle.

8:26 p.m. — Here we go, long wait to say something, after review, Childs did not have possession and the play is an incomplete pass; sets up fourth down. Bet that Georgia brings the house, Breeding on his own goal line to punt; at last minute goes for return. Breeding gets a dying duck off that rolls out at the UGA 47 yard line.

8:25 p.m. — Lengthy review on replay. Obviously they will take their time. Crowd now begins to boo in the boredom of waiting.

8:22 p.m. — Vance Scott picks up the fumble of Childs catch and returns for a 40 yard touchdown. The play is likely headed to review. On the ensuing confusion, Ryan Mallett runs over the official in the end zone. Everyone stopped until the official threw his bean bag denoting change of posession. Still, half the players on both teams stood still, and Scott momentarily stopped before he realized the play was still live.

8:20 p.m. — Georgia calls a time out after Razorback motion penalty makes it 3rd and 12. Clock already stopped at :50, but UGA wants to get set for the big third down.

8:19 p.m. — 1st and 10 at UA 15 after penalty, Mallett waits, waits, just overthrows a wide open Adams at the 45 yard line. On second down, hand off to Michael Smith goes for three yards but clock is running.

8:17 p.m. — With 1:51 to operate, the good news is Arkansas has scored two of its three drives in far less time. Seth Armbrust picks up the dropped kickoff and returns it to the 25. A flag on the play and it’s against Arkansas.

8:13 p.m. — Third time on third down is the charm for the Razorback defense. Finally, Adrian Davis’ tackle brings us to fourth down.

8:12 p.m. — The Party Hogs of Bella Vista named the Tailgate of the Day on the RazorVision board.

8:12 p.m. — Play clock was winding down and Arkansas calls a time out just at the snap; first time out of the day for Razorbacks.

8:10 p.m. — Big sack for Razorbacks, but off sides call will give the Dogs a third chance on third down, now three yards for the first.

8:09 p.m. — Georgia sees something up the middle on Arkansas. The TD came there. Cox hands to King on the draw of sorts, UGA gets penalty back plus five for second and five. Nothing doing next time and a statement tackle. Third down and Cox throw to no one; flag for a false start will save the miscue.

8:07 p.m. — King finds a gap for the first down and Terrell Williams prevents another breakaway for a UGA back, 1st and 10 at UA 39. False start ruins the first down, five yards back and now at the 44 yard line.

8:05 p.m. — King finds little to the 50 yard line, Harris and Adrian Davis on the tackle. Little confusion by the Bulldogs, Cox calls a 30 second time out. First time out for either team.

8:04 p.m. — Cox in the gun, finds Michael Moore cutting across the middle for a 15 yard gain and first down.

8:03 p.m. — After the time out, Cox flushed from pocket, tackled by Davis and Davis (sounds like a law firm doesn’t it). Moore in the right flat for a short gain, now third and three.

7:59 p.m. — Mallett goes no back in the gun, works the pressure and finds Hamilton for nine yards, forces fourth and one. Beautiful punt by Breeding for 46 yards to put UGA at their own 25.

7:57 p.m. — Kickoff rolls through the endzone for first and 10 at the 20.

7:55 p.m. — Razorbacks have given up 64 yards on five penalties; before the 80 yd TD run, UGA had only 84 total yards. To this point, Arkansas has 214 total yards, 197 in the air; UGA has 166 with 72 passing and 94 rushing.

7:52 p.m. — Off 1st and 20 at own 20; Cox struggles to get the play call with the noise, lofts deep over double coverage incomplete. On second down, hand off to Samuel and he finds a gap to take it to the house untouched for 80 yards.

7:51 p.m. — Unsportsmanlike penalty before we can resume play on Arkansas, and UGA threads one deep down the middle for a gain on first down to the UA 35; bring it all back on holding.

7:49 p.m. — Jarius Wright has three catches for 90 yards; Georgia has 86 total yards.

7:48 p.m. — The Razorback player ejected was Jerry Franklin during the first penalty flurry. Big roar in the stadium as the top 25 scores are on the RazorVision board for the USC upset; grumbling noise for other scores — you guess.

7:47 p.m. — Third and 19 for Arkansas, Mallett ends up keeping for a short gain. Forces fourth down to end an unusual Arkansas possession. Miller deep for the punt for Georgia and this one is fair caught at the 15 yard line. Time out for ESPN.

7:41 p.m. — UGA struggling to call play, noise gets louder; Cox steps back, waits, looks and delivers a perfect interception to Tramain Thomas. Flags fly all over the place afterwards. Unsportsmanlike conduct on Arkansas and someone has been ejected. Scrambling to find out who over the roaring boos. Now two personal foul penalties.

7:40 p.m. — The roar, the flag, the play stops. Motion on UGA, could it be the South Endzone disrupting the cadence? Keep it up crowd and we’ll see. Second down, crushing hit from Broadway for a very short gain, then a personal foul backs UGA up even deeper into the noise of the south endzone.

7:36 p.m. — 1st qt stats, Mallett is 9-6-0 for 174 yards and 3 TD; Georgia has 84 total yards.

7:29 p.m. — Breeding’s punt only 28 yards as it shanks out of bounds, UGA on its own 36

7:27 p.m. — Mallett works under center, hand off to Johnson who finds some room wide to the left for a five yard gain. Johnson gets it back but has to move laterally about 25 yards to pick up two to three, brings up fourth and second punt of night for Arkansas.

7:25 p.m. — Johnson from the goal line, brings it out to the 30. Mallett works under center, hand off to Johnson who finds some room wide to the left for a five yard gain.

7:23 p.m. — Not in MY red zone says Wendel Davis as he slaps down the Cox pass with authority at the 10 yard line. Field goal attempt by Walsh, 35 yd. it’s good and now 14-10 Arkansas with 2:26 left in the first.

Good afternoon and welcome to the media area at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Kick off is at 6:45 p.m. tonight and the game is full ESPN. Remember, if you want to follow this blog’s details via Twitter, make sure you are also on the @RazorbackRoad feed. If you’re here reading the game day blog, I’m sure you’re already on the department’s main feed, @ArkRazorbacks.

Don’t forget to read over the new changes for RRS today, and if you want to catch a cool time-lapse of the install of the FieldTurf, click on the picture of our feature story today on the new surface.

If you’re at the tailgates or heading to the game, make sure you have downloaded our new iPhone/iTouch app — iHog. It is pretty heavy right now with our video includes, so you need to use WiFi or your computer’s iTunes account to pull down the 1.0 version.

If you’re at home and planning to use streaming media to keep up with the game, please take a moment early to verify your RazorVision account is current, you have the login and your plugins are in place to watch the pregame video and listen to the game audio.

As we did last year, video from RazorVision is PREGAME ONLY. ESPN as the broadcaster provides the game stream for video.

If you need it, make sure you have your ESPN 360 account set up and the same applies — get the downloads, check the plug ins.

We’ll be back from the press box around 4:00 p.m. Until then, you can read the pregame blog from last night.
