Chadwick Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Arkansas’ Payton Chadwick was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week following a spectacular weekend at that Razorback Invitational at Randal Tyson Indoor Track this past weekend.
Chadwick is a big reason as to why the Arkansas Razorbacks have been ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division I Women’s Indoor Track & Field National Rating Index for the past three weeks.
The senior from Springdale, Ark. took advantage of the fast track inside the Randal Tyson clocking a pair of national top-2 times in the 200 (22.97) and 60 hurdles (8.01) and had an important carry on the national-leading 4×400 relay team (52.46; 3:31.26). She is also ranked in the top-35 nationally in the 60 based off a result earlier this season.
This is the first time that a non-vaulter from Arkansas was named National Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. Sandi Morris (February 3, 2015) and Lexi Weeks (February 21, 2017) were the other recipients.
Chadwick and the sprint crew will head to Texas A&M for the Charlie Thomas Invitational at Gilliam Indoor facility Friday, Feb. 1 in College Station, Texas.
