Chaplin fourth in Relays heptathlon

AUSTIN, Texas – Senior Etienne Chaplin currently sits infourth place in the Texas Relays heptathlon on day one of the 82nd annual Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

After four completed events, the Chicago native holds a score of 3,256 points to sit in fourth. Competition began at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday with the running of the 100-meter hurdles. Chaplin finished fifth with a time 14.32 and picked up 934 points.

Next up, in the high jump, she cleared 5-4.25 to finish tied for eighth. She earned 771 points.

In the third event of the day, the shot put, Chaplin finished sixth overall. Her best toss of the day measured 37-5.25 and scored 622 points.

Day one of the heptathlon concluded with the 200-meter dash. Chaplin finished second overall with a time of 24.55. She scored 929 points for her effort.
