National Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Two-time cross country All-American, Dominique Scott was selected as the National Athlete of the Week by the USTFCCCA following her spectacular performance at the 2015 SEC Championships. Scott became the first runner in conference history to win three-consecutive individual and team titles.

The Capetown, South Africa native is now a two-time recipient of this honor, last acknowledged on Sept. 22, 2014 after setting the meet record at the Missouri Southern Stampede.

Going into her final SEC cross country championships with two top-three finishes already under her belt, Scott tackled the Dale Watts Cross Country Course head on, leading the way in the front of the pack. At a comfortable pace through most of the competition, Scott kicked it into high gear, increasing her tempo to take the crown by over 10 seconds.

The distance phenom returns to College Station in two weeks to defend her NCAA South Central Regional crown on the same course.
