Ellis Picks Up Prestigious Honor

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas linebacker Brooks Ellis has been named to the 2015 Academic All-America second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, announced Thursday. The junior recently earned Academic All-District 6 first team honors on Nov. 10.

Arkansas’ first Academic All-American since 2012, Ellis is one of two representatives of the SEC named to the 23-member team. He is also the 20th Razorback and second linebacker in school history to earn the honor.

A four-time SEC Honor Roll member, he holds a 3.77 GPA while working toward his undergraduate degree in pre-professional exercise science. After his playing career is finished, Ellis would like to become a doctor.

The Fayetteville native leads the team with 101 tackles, which ranks sixth in the SEC. He tallied a career-high 15 tackles both at Alabama (Oct. 10) and at home against Mississippi State (Nov. 21). For his career, Ellis has registered 206 total tackles, including six double-figure performances.
