Estes-Taylor announces schedule

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas head women’s golf coach Shauna Estes-Taylor has put together another challenging schedule for the Razorbacks in 2010-11, she announced today.

Estes-Taylor and the Razorbacks face a four-event fall, followed by five regular season and what they hope is a three-event postseason this year.

"I feel very good about our upcoming fall and spring schedule," Estes-Taylor said. "It’s a nice balance between all three regions of the country. We face tough competition week in and week out and I believe this schedule will give us the preparation and tools we will need to be very successful in the postseason. Theplayers will be challenged by the best teams in the country, while having an opportunity each week to win."

The Razorbacks open with a familiar fall lineup beginning Sept. 24-26 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Norman, Okla. Arkansas has taken part in this event three times, most recently in 2005.

Arkansas follows up with a trip to the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship Oct. 8-10 in Knoxville, Tenn. Arkansas has participated in the Mercedes Benz for eight seasons and carded a 920 at last year’s event.

Estes-Taylor and the Razorbacks move on to the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown Oct. 25-27 making the program’s third appearance.

Arkansas wraps up the fall with a new event in Palo Alto, Calif., at the Pac 10-SEC Challenge Nov. 5-7. The Razorbacks took part in the Kinderlou Challenge last year as the Southeastern Conference is testing its skill against the rest of the country.

The winter break ends Feb. 21-22 when the Razorbacks get back to work at the Central District Invitational. Arkansas finished eighth last year in the team’s fifth appearance in Parrish, Fla.

The Razorbacks return to the SunTrust Gator Invitational for the first time since 2005 March 6-7, and follow up with a trip to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Invitational. Last year’s event was moved to New Orleans as the Tigers’ golf course underwent renovations.

March wraps up with the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., the second of two first-time events for Arkansas. The Razorbacks conclude the regular season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., as the program returns to Estes-Taylor’s alma mater for the 16th time in school history.

The only other event that Arkansas has participated in all 16 years is the SEC Championship hosted by Auburn this year April 15-17.

The Razorbacks then anticipate NCAA Regional and Championship appearances as the season stretches into late May.

"I’m excited about the 2010-2011 season," Estes-Taylor said. "We are returning a very seasoned group while adding one of the best players in the country to our roster. I can’t wait to get started."
