Fall schedule nears conclusion for Arkansas softball

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – After sweeping a pair of games last weekend, the Razorback softball team will compete in its final fall event of the season Oct. 11 as it plays host to teams from Northeastern State and Oklahoma State. Arkansas has won four of six games played this fall, including two shutout victories over Crowder and Drury last time out. The three-game event will begin at 11 a.m. and all games will be played at Bogle Park.Saturday’s play will start with an 11 a.m. contest between Northeastern State and Oklahoma State. Arkansas will take the field in the next game as it takes on Oklahoma State at 1:30 p.m. The Razorbacks will conclude the day with a 4 p.m. matchup against Northeastern State.Through six games played this fall, Jessica Bachkora leads the team in several offensive categories, including batting average (.500), hits (10), runs (8) and on-base percentage (.565). Kayla Johnson has a team-best 12 runs batted in and three doubles. The senior infielder also carries a .400 batting average.Freshman pitcher Kelsie Vallies continued her strong fall season with a scoreless five-inning performance last weekend against Drury. She leads the team with a 0.82 earned run average. In a team-high 11 innings pitched, Vallies has allowed just two walks while striking out 10 batters. Miranda Dixon, last weekend’s other starter, has held opposing hitters to a .105 batting average through 10.2 innings pitched. She’s also a factor at the plate with a .412 batting average.This event, the Razorback Fall Invitational, will mark the end of the fall season for the Razorbacks. Arkansas will open its spring schedule Feb. 6-8 with a tournament hosted by the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss.
