
Glenn wins 400m hurdles, UA breaks sprint medley record
AUSTIN – Razorback Rachel Glenn equaled the world-leading time for 2025 with a 54.86 victory in the 400m hurdles at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday while Arkansas broke the school record in the sprint medley relay as runner-up in 3:38.15.
Glenn powered to a convincing win in the hurdle race after posting a leading time of 55.26 in Thursday’s prelims. Runner-up in the final was TCU’s Ameliah Birdow in 56.17 while Razorback Saira Prince finished third in 57.07, which ranks No. 8 on the UA all-time list.
In matching the world-leading mark of 54.86 run by Australia’s Sarah Carli in Sydney on March 15, Glenn challenged the Texas Relays meet record of 54.37 set in 2022 by Arkansas’ Britton Wilson.
Glenn has a career best of 53.46 from 2024 that ranks second on the UA all-time list behind Wilson’s school record of 53.08.
The first final at the Texas Relays for the Razorbacks generated a second-place finish in the sprint medley relay as Arkansas set a school record of 3:38.15 with a foursome of Anya Jackson, Shawnti Jackson, Kaylyn Brown (51.8), and Sanu Jallow-Lockhart (2:01.28).
Clemson, the defending champion, won the race in 3:37.77 to produce the No. 2 collegiate performance ever with the Razorbacks at No. 3 all-time.
Texas set the collegiate and Texas Relays meet record of 3:36.10 in 2023, the same year Arkansas set a school record of 3:41.51 at the Texas Relays with a foursome of Joanne Reid, Ariane Linton, Nickisha Pryce, and Amber Anning.
Tiger anchor leg, Judy Kosgei (1:59.22), passed Jallow-Lockhart with 200m left. Jallow-Lockhart challenged and pulled even with Kosgei on the home stretch, but lost her stride and dropped back by a couple of steps.
The 800m Invitational final on Thursday had Anna Podojil winning the first section in 2:05.12 over a 2:05.16 for TCU’s Winnie Kipsang to place second overall. It was Podojil’s first outdoor 800m race and she ranks No. 12 on the UA all-time list.
Ainsley Erzen set an outdoor best of 2:05.86 to finish fifth in the section with Podojil while Analisse Batista placed seventh in the same section with a 2:09.74.
In qualifying races on Friday, the Razorbacks advanced in the 4 x 400m relay with the leading time of 3:32.78 from a foursome of Kayla Davis (53.8), Shawnti Jackson (51.6), Ashanti Denton (54.40), and Sanaria Butler (52.94).
A pair of Razorbacks advanced to the final of the 100m hurdles as Simone Ballard finished second in her prelim heat with a 13.35 (1.2 wind) while Shania Myers won her heat in 13.49 (0.6) in making her Arkansas debut. Prince clocked a time of 13.55 (1.8) in placing fourth in another heat.
Just missing advancing in the 100m was Anya Jackson with an 11.51 as the final time to qualify for the final was 11.49. Ariane Linton posted a time of 11.66.
Competing in the pole vault at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, Rachel Homoly placed 10th with a clearance of 13-3.5 (4.05). Teammates Hannah Estes and Addison Richey each made 12-9.5 (3.90) to tie for 13th.
