Green Named East-West Shrine Bowl Monday Morning Quarterback

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green has been named the East-West Shrine Bowl Monday Morning Quarterback, the organization announced Monday morning.

The East-West Shrine Bowl Monday Morning Quarterback Award is given to an all-star game eligible player that displayed the most NFL traits during that week.

Green completed 24-of-31 passes for 322 yards and a career-high six touchdowns, while rushing 9 times for 41 yards during the Razorbacks’ 52-7 season-opening win over Alabama A&M this past Saturday. His six passing touchdowns were the most in a single game since 2015 and tied for the second most in program history. The redshirt senior joined Brandon Allen (2015) as the only Arkansas quarterbacks in program history to throw for 6+ touchdowns in a single game. His 77.42 percent completion rating was the best by an Arkansas quarterback since at least 1998 with 24 or more completions in a game. A native of Lewisville, Texas, Green notched his fifth career 300+ yard passing game and became the first Hog to throw for 300+ yards in consecutive games since Nick Starkel accomplished the feat in 2019. Green’s six passing touchdowns are tied for the most nationally in a single game this season, while his 228.54 passing efficiency is the fifth-best mark in a single game among FBS quarterbacks.

Entering the 2025 season, Green and Oklahoma’s John Mateer were the only returning quarterbacks nationally to pass for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 600 yards in 2024. Additionally, Green was also one of 10 FBS quarterbacks entering the 2025 season who have thrown for 4,000+ yards and rushed for 1,000+ yards in their FBS career.

Head Coach Sam Pittman and the Hogs opened the season with a dominant 52-7 win over Alabama A&M last Saturday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Razorbacks travel to Little Rock on Saturday for the first-ever meeting between Arkansas and Arkansas State at War Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. on ESPN+/SEC Network+.
