Gus Malzahn Named Rivals.com National Coordinator of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was honored as the national coordinator of the week by Rivals.com it was announced on Wednesday. Arkansas racked up 366 total offensive yards including 279 on the ground in a road upset of No. 2 Auburn.

Sophomores Darren McFadden and Felix Jones each rushed for more than 100 yards and quarterback Mitch Mustain was seven-of-10 for 87 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

“He (Gus Malzahn) is doing a great job,” Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt said. “That is what happens when you win there is enough credit to go around for everybody. We’ve had a lot of awards this week. That is a good award for him. He deserves it.”

The Razorbacks have taken home their share of awards and honors this week following the conference win at Auburn. Arkansas was named the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week and the SI.com National Team of the Week. McFadden was selected by USA Today as the national player of the week while senior Keith Jackson was named the national defensive player of the week by The Walter Camp Foundation. The Southeastern Conference honored sophomore center Jonathan Luigs as the offensive lineman of the week. Junior defensive end Jamaal Anderson picked up the conference honor for defensive lineman of the week.
