
Hogs Back Home Against Lamar
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 52 Arkansas men’s tennis team (9-3) returns home to host Lamar (4-6) on Saturday, February 24 at 4 p.m. at Billingsley Tennis Center.
On Wednesday, the Hogs swept their doubleheader against Oral Roberts and Tulsa. In the first match versus Oral Roberts, Arkansas claimed the doubles point with wins from Benedikt Emesz/Alan Sau Franco and Melvin Manuel/Foster Rogers. The Razorbacks carried their momentum into singles play as the team claimed all six singles courts en route to a 7-0 victory.
The Hogs dropped the doubles point versus No. 56 Tulsa before ralling to win four consecutive singles matches to secure the victory over the Golden Hurricane. Manuel and Božo Barun recorded the first two points for Arkansas while Sweeney and Stefanos Savva followed victories to clinch the match for the Razorbacks. Manuel currently leads the team with seven wins.
The Cardinals are off to a 4-6 start this spring and have picked up wins over Alcorn State (twice), Southern, and Oral Roberts. Freshman Leon Nickel leads Lamar with four singles wins on the year while him and junior Max Amling head the singles lineup on courts one and two. Sophomore Joan Crespo and junior Martin Garcia-Ripoll have earned three singles wins this season. The tandem of Nickel and senior Brandon Do hold a 4-2 doubles record, primarily playing at the No. 1 position.
