Hogs Suffer Midweek Setback

WICHITA, Kan. – No. 12 Arkansas saw its five-game win streak against Wichita State (20-5) end Tuesday night as the Razorbacks dropped the midweek tilt, 10-2 (6), at Wilkins Stadium.

Arkansas falls to 20-7 overall.

The Hogs combined for five hits on the night.

Redshirt junior designated player Rylin Hedgecock, who extended her hitting streak to two games, plated Arkansas’ lone run of the first off her RBI double down the right field line for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore right fielder Kacie Hoffmann pushed her hitting streak to three games, roping a leadoff single to right in the second.

Joining Hedgecock and Hoffmann in Arkansas’ hits tally were sophomore Raigan Kramer and juniors Hannah Gammill and Cylie Halvorson.

After a quiet couple innings offensively, Kramer and Gammill recorded back-to-back singles with two outs in the sixth. Halvorson drove in Arkansas’ second run on her RBI single to right, plating Kramer from second to cut the deficit to 8-2.

Arkansas used three arms on the night. Junior LHP Callie Turner (5-1) got the start and suffered her first loss on the season, giving up five earned runs on four hits before freshman LHP Robyn Herron replaced her in the first. Herron threw 2.1 innings and curbed the Shockers to three runs on three hits while compiling three strikeouts. Freshman LHP Hannah Camenzind spun the final three frames. Camenzind limited Wichita State to one earned run on three hits.

How It Happened
Top 1st – Raigan Kramer walked with one out to set the table for Rylin Hedgecock’s RBI double to right, putting the Hogs in front 1-0.

Bottom 1st – Wichita State added eight runs in the bottom of the first to take an 8-1 lead.

Top 6th – Searching for runs, Raigan Kramer and Hannah Gammill hit back-to-back singles with two outs. Cylie Halvorson came through with an RBI single to right, sending Kramer home from second to cut the deficit to 2-0.

Bottom 6th – Wichita State pushed across two runs in end the game.
