Lady'Backs host Georgia in final home series

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team hosts Georgia in the last home series of the year with a doubleheader Saturday, April 28, at 1:00 p.m. The Lady Razorbacks honor senior Rachel LeMaster before the final game of the series, Sunday, at 1:00 p.m. The Lady’Backs still look to clinch a spot in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and a sweep of Georgia this weekend would greatly increase their chances. Georgia (38-24, 8-14) is in eighth place and is the last team to clinch a spot in the tournament. Arkansas (20-38, 5-14 SEC) sits in 10th place. The Lady’Backs were scheduled to play Wichita State midweek, but the games were cancelled do to heavy rain in the Wichita area. Arkansas dropped its last SEC series to LSU this past weekend. Georgia comes into the series after sweeping Ole Miss in a doubleheader Wednesday. The Bulldogs dropped their last three-game series to Mississippi State this past weekend. Freshman Jessica Bachkora enters the weekend leading Arkansas with a .296 batting average. The Overland Park, Kan., native also leads the team with 53 hits, 10 doubles, 4 triples and 27 runs. In SEC play, sophomore Whitney Cloer leads the team with a .308 batting average. The Bulldogs are led by Kellie Middleton with a .369 batting average, 45 runs, 69 hits, 12 doubles, five triples and 41 stolen bases. In the circle Kasi Carroll is the go-to pitcher posting a 2.12 ERA in 178.2 innings pitched, with 179 strikeouts. Arkansas faced Georgia five times last season, taking just one game from the Bulldogs. Georgia has won 16 out of the last 17 games between the two teams and leads the all-time series 18-10. Saturday at Lady’Back Yard is cooler day, sponsored by Coca-Cola. The first 150 fans in the ballpark will receive a Coca-Cola cooler.
