Lady'Backs Host Second Fall Tournament

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team continues the fall season as the Lady Razorbacks host Carl Albert State College, Rogers State University and Texarkana College, Saturday, Sept. 24, at Lady’Back Yard. The Lady’Back Fall Festival begins at 9:00 a.m.

Arkansas meets Rogers State at 11:00 a.m., Texarkana at 3:00 p.m. and concludes the tournament with Carl Albert at 7:00 p.m.

Lady’Back softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he hopes the squad continues to play well. Arkansas was 3-0 in the fall opener, Sept. 17.

“I think the competition will be a little more stiff, which I think is what this freshmen crop needs,” Pinkerton said. “I thought the 11 newcomers played very well.”

Senior infielder Blaire Perry led the Lady’Back offense with a .833 batting average and five hits. Catchers freshman Whitney Cloer and senior Shana Easley contributed to the effort with a pair of triples.

The Arkansas pitching staff dominated in the circle with Perry, sophomore Katy Henry and junior Kayce Odle combining for a 0.00 ERA and 30 strikeouts.
