Lady'Backs Take Streak to Kansas

FAYETTEVILLE-After a historic weekend, the University of Arkansas softball team travels to Lawrence, Kan., to meet the University of Kansas for a doubleheader Tuesday, April 26, at 3 p.m.

The Lady Razorbacks are currently on a four-game winning streak, which is the longest of the season. Arkansas recorded its first Southeastern Conference sweep since 2002 with the win over Kentucky, April 23-24.

Kansas leads the all-time series 6-11. In the previous meeting Feb. 11, 2005 at the Las Cruses Hilton Classic in Las Cruses, N.M., the Lady’Backs fell to the Jayhawks 5-1. Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he hopes his squad can continue the winning trend that the Lady’Backs are enjoying since defeating Oklahoma City, April 19.

“We want to keep the streak alive at Kansas,” Pinkerton said. “I think this prepares us for Kansas. They are a competitive Big 12 team and it can only help down the road.”

Sophomore outfielder Rachel LeMaster leads the Arkansas offense with a .392 batting average, 69 hits and 26 stolen bases.
