Lady'Backs to compete for titles at SEC Classic

Atlanta, Ga. – First-time Lady Razorbacks Karina Ledaja and Audrey Bordeleau led the University of Arkansas women’s tennis team on Saturday with semifinal victories and a place in their respective flight title matches on Sunday. Ledaja expanded her team-leading singles record to 12-4 in a three-set effort against South Carolina’s Justine Walsh. The junior transfer lost the first set 6-4, but blanked Walsh in the second set, 6-0, and took the third, 6-4. Ledaja competes for C flight title honors today against Vanderbilt’s Caroline Ferrell. Bordeleau advanced to finals of D flight with a handy two-set dismissal of Kentucky’s Liis Sober. She captured her 10th singles victory as a Lady’Back with the 6-3, 6-2 win and faces Kentucky’s Liis Sober today in the D flight title match. “It’s exciting to see Karina and Audrey continue to advance,” said head coach Michael Hegarty. “They are both making steady progress as the year goes on.” Junior Melissa Cornett captured her eighth victory of the fall and second singles victory of the tournament with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Auburn’s Nancy Peaden. “Melissa showed real toughness today in her victory,” Hegarty added.
