Lady'Backs Travel to Ole Miss for Spring Break

FAYETTEVILLE-The University of Arkansas softball team begins spring break on the road when the Lady Razorbacks (13-13, 2-4) meet Mississippi (11-20, 0-6), for a doubleheader Tuesday, March 21 at 5:00 p.m. in Oxford, Miss. The series concludes Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.

Arkansas softball head coach Jamie Pinkerton said he has high hopes for the series with the Rebels after the Lady’Backs were swept in 2005.

“I’m looking forward to playing three good, solid games,” he said. “I’m confident that if we play seven focused innings we can hold our own against anyone in the country. Hopefully, we can carry the momentum from the win at home into the Ole Miss series.”

The Lady’Backs recorded their second conference win of the season, March 19, as they defeated No. 22 Mississippi State, 4-2.

Despite last season’s, 2-1, 4-1 and 1-0, losses, the Lady’Backs have a 22-9 all-time lead in the series. Arkansas is attempting to win the series for the first time since 2003.

Currently, senior Blaire Perry leads Arkansas with a .312 batting average and 24 hits, while posting a 1.92 ERA. In the win over Mississippi State, Perry along with senior outfielder Mindy O’Malley and freshman infielder Sandra Smith guided the offense as they each went 2-for-3.
