FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team suffered a three-set Southeastern Conference loss at the hands of the LSU Tigers in Barnhill Arena Friday. Arkansas (7-21, 4-14 SEC) was out-matched by LSU (16-9, 11-7 SEC) falling 13-25,17-25, 9-25. The Razorbacks finished the night hitting negative .025. Senior Christina Lawrence had five kills to lead Arkansas. Freshman Kelli Stipanovich added four and junior Kristin Seaton had three. “We just never got started,” said Arkansas head coach Robert Pulliza. “It’s disappointing to see that lack of emotion at this point in the season. “We are a much better team than we showed tonight.” The Razorbacks were flat to start the match hitting negative .077 in the first set. The Razorbacks trailed 7-2 to start the match as Pulliza called his first timeout. But the Arkansas offense was unable to rally behind a .462 hitting percentage and a pair of blocks from LSU. Arkansas scored first to start the second set but the Tigers roared back opening a 6-2 lead and they never looked back. The Razorbacks again hit negative, this time, -.042, as the Tigers posted a .286 mark as they firmly controlled the set. The Razorbacks put together a mid-set mini-run putting together six points but the early set deficit was too much to overcome. Arkansas had a bit more of a spark in the third set keeping the score close through 10 points but again LSU was able to pull away. The Razorbacks return to the court Sunday hosting Georgia in a 1:30 p.m. match.
