Luke Hasz Named John Mackey Tight End of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas freshman tight end Luke Hasz has been named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week following his sensational performance against No. 12 LSU on Sept. 23.

The Bixby, Okla., product was lethal vs. the Tigers, catching a team-leading six passes for a team-high 116 yards and two touchdowns to become the first Arkansas freshman to record multiple receiving touchdowns in a game since tight end Hunter Henry at LSU in 2013. Hasz also became the first Arkansas freshman since 2012 to log 100+ receiving yards with multiple touchdowns in a game.

The true freshman is second on the team in receptions (15) and receiving yards (239) through the first four games. He is tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns (3) and ranks second on the Hogs in both yards per catch (15.9) and receiving yards per game (59.8).

Nationally, Hasz ranks first among all freshmen tight ends in receiving yards and ranks fifth nationally among all FBS tight ends in receiving yards this season. He has the second-most receiving yards by an SEC tight end this season behind Brock Bowers’ (Georgia) 256 yards.

The John Mackey Tight End of the Week is an honor distinct and different from the annual John Mackey Award. This weekly honor was started in 2004 to draw attention to individual play by tight ends during the active season. The Tight End of the Week acknowledgment does not have a direct bearing on the final John Mackey Award selection process. The John Mackey Tight End of the Week honor will run until the announcement of the eight Semi-Finalists.

Hasz and the Razorbacks trek to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the Southwest Classic vs. Texas A&M on Saturday, Sept. 30. Kickoff between the Hogs and Aggies is set for 11 a.m. on SEC Network.
