FAYETTEVILLE – The #21 Arkansas Razorbacks, coming off back-to-back 20-point road wins for the first time since joining the SEC, return home to host the Auburn Tigers on Saturday (Feb. 14). Tipoff in Bud Walton Arena is set for 7:30 pm (CT).
Auburn is one of three teams – all nicknamed the Tigers – that Arkansas will play twice during the SEC regular season. The Hogs swept LSU, playing the Tigers twice in a 17-day span. Arkansas lost at Auburn, 95-73, on Jan. 10. The other team Arkansas plays twice is Missouri. The Razorbacks will play those Tigers twice in a five-game span to conclude the season (Feb. 21 at home and Mar. 7 in Columbia).
After Auburn, Arkansas hits the road to face Alabama on Wednesday (Feb. 18), then plays Missouri (Feb. 21) and Texas A&M (Feb. 25) at home.
NOTES:
- This will be the 63rd meeting between Arkansas and Auburn – and the second this season. All but one (a meeting in the 1967-68 season in Oklahoma City) have come since Arkansas joined the SEC.
- The Razorbacks own a 38-24 advantage in the series, including a 23-6 margin versus the Tigers in games played in Fayetteville.
- Auburn has won three straight in the series and 4 of the last 5. However, three of those five were played in Auburn.
- Last month, Auburn defeated Arkansas, 95-73. Auburn had three big runs in the first half and never looked back in the victory. Keyshawn Hall led Auburn with 30 points (11-of-14 FG and 4-of-5 3PT). KeShawn Murphy added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The first Auburn run was 8-0 to take a 14-8 lead. The second one, Auburn had a 15-3 run, including an 11-0 spurt, to lead 31-17. The final run, Auburn out-scored the Hogs 9-0 to lead 47-30 with 1:28 left before the break. Malique Ewin recorded his first double-double as a Razorback with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Darius Acuff Jr. led the Hogs with 19 points.
- Razorback head coach John Calipari now has 895 wins and is five shy of reaching 900 wins as head coach at an NCAA Division I program. Currently, only five coaches have at least 900 wins as head coach while at NCAA Division I programs: Mike Krzyzewski (1,202); Jim Boeheim (1,116); Rick Pitino (904); Roy Williams (903) and Bob Knight (902).
