Monday practice report

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Razorback football team returned to the practice field Monday night for a workout inside Walker Pavilion. Following practice, offensive coordinator Paul Petrino spoke with the media.

On Monday’s practice:

"It was a good, long practice. We got a lot of work in with the younger guys at the end. That’s the great thing about bowl games. You get all that extra work and extra practice. I thought everybody had good energy today. Our execution has to improve a little bit. We were a little sloppy. But the energy was good and the effort was good. It was a good day."

On Mitch Petrus earning second-team All-SEC from the AP:

"I thought he had a good season. He played well. He was a leader for us. He played tough. He got better each week. We are really proud of him."

On playing in the Liberty Bowl:

"It’s a great experience. It’s a really nice stadium. We’ve watched a lot of film on East Carolina in the last two days. They are a good football team. They are well coached. You can see they play hard and they do what they are coached to do. Any time you go to a bowl game, you are playing a good team. We need to work on getting better every day. We need to go out there with a great attitude and attack the practice field every day to get better. If we can do that, it will help us win the bowl game and be a better team next year."

On finishing the season strong:

"How you finish the season helps you for the next season. We want to go out there and do a great job and have a good offseason. I think that’s how it progresses with the players."
