Nutt Suspends Mitchell for Kentucky Game

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior defensive tackle Ernest Mitchell has been suspended for this weekend’s game against the University of Kentucky it was announced by Arkansas head coach Houston Nutt on Monday.

Mitchell was called for a personal foul and ejected from last Saturday’s Alabama game after an incident involving an Alabama offensive lineman.

“I have suspended Ernest Mitchell for the Kentucky game for his inappropriate conduct in Saturday’s game,” Nutt said. “I visited with Commissioner Slive this morning and told him that while the NCAA policy only mandates the suspension of the player for a half in the following game, I felt that a full-game suspension was appropriate in this circumstance. Ernest got caught up in the heat of the moment and made a poor decision. I’m extremely disappointed in his reaction to the situation. There is no excuse for that type of behavior. Ernest regrets his actions and he will have to learn from his mistake. He made a serious error in judgment, however, he remains a valued member of this team.”
